Conclusion

In Thailand there are several functions as a dietician, namely: the practitioner, advisor, entrepreneur, nutrition manager and researcher. To see which functions are most important in Thailand, it’s important to take the situation in Thailand in consideration. In Thailand there are a lot of problems without a solution. Overweight as well as underweight among children is very common in Thailand with a prevalence of respectively 10,9% and 9,2%. This could be caused not only by improper food intake, but also by infectious, common diseases in Thailand like cholera. Those diseases can be prevented by good hygiene, which is not always available. So there are three problems which are linked with each other and can be solved for a large part with good hygiene practice. To deal with the source of the problem people should be informed about good hygiene, food intake and common diseases. The person who is best educated to do this is the advisor who can give advice about how to give people the right message and in which way. However since a lot of people in Thailand already have disease or weight problem the practitioner or entrepreneur are necessary too, to help people  with their problem. But also the researcher is important since Thailand is a big competitor in world agribusiness. The only function which will be less important is the entrepreneur, since the problems of food safety of manufacturers are much smaller than the food problems existing on the streets.
