Method

In the creation of this website, information will be gathered in several ways. The largest part will be desktop research. The main information for this desk research is going to be gathered by several databases such as CINAHL, Cochrane, MEDLINE, Pubmed and LexisNexis. On this databases there is going to be searched with keywords as ‘Thailand nutrition’, ‘eating habits Thailand’, ‘nutritional guidelines Thailand’, ‘Buddhism’, Buddhism food’, ‘culture Thailand’, ‘Thai economics’, ‘dietician in Thailand’, ‘food Thailand’ and ‘Health care Thailand’. Next to the research on internet, there will also be books used, from the library.

The information that will be used in the desk research has to be reliable and valid to make sure the information on the website is correct and useful. To ensure the information will be reliable and valid, there are certain requirements:

  • The references must be published by a reliable organisation

  • The references must be written by an expert, preferably still active in this field

  • The references must be published no more than ten (if it is on the internet) or fifteen (if it is in a book) years ago

  • The article must be written to give information and not to convince the readers

  • The article must be complete and most of the possible points of view has to be shown

In this case the article is the website.

There will also be some field research in the form of two interviews. One of the group members knows a tour guide from Thailand which she met last summer. There will be set up a questionnaire which is going to be sent to him and his answers are going to be used. Another group member knows a Thai person who moved to the Netherlands, he will also be interviewed.
